“Shi” is for “Smith,” “rui” is for “Ralph,” and “fu” is for “good fortune.” Made to match the style of one done for Carol Gwo, Ralph’s wife, by her father, a well-known calligrapher and seal-carver in Taiwan. The ivory came from one half of an old piano key that was given to me.
